Southern Peach Cobbler
Jammy cinnamon peaches under a golden biscuit topping. Works with fresh or frozen peaches.

Ingredients
- 6 cupssliced peaches, fresh and peeled, or frozen and thawed
- ½ cupgranulated sugar
- ¼ cupbrown sugar
- 1 tspcinnamon, plus a pinch for the top
- ¼ tspnutmeg
- 1 tbsplemon juice
- 2 tbspcornstarch
- 1 tspvanilla extract
- 1½ cupsall-purpose flour, for the topping
- ¼ cupgranulated sugar, for the topping, plus 1 tbsp to sprinkle
- 2 tspbaking powder
- ½ tspsalt
- 6 tbspcold butter, cubed
- ¾ cupbuttermilk, or milk
Method
- Heat the oven to 375°F.
- Filling: toss the peaches with the sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, cornstarch and vanilla. Spread in a 9×13-inch or 3-quart baking dish.
- Topping: whisk the flour, ¼ cup sugar, baking powder and salt. Rub or cut in the cold butter until it looks like coarse crumbs, then stir in the buttermilk just until a shaggy dough forms.
- Drop spoonfuls of dough over the peaches, leaving gaps for steam. Mix the 1 tbsp sugar with a pinch of cinnamon and sprinkle over the top.
- Bake 40–45 minutes, until the topping is golden and the filling is bubbling. Cool at least 15 minutes. Great with vanilla ice cream.
